Anyone have some extra cash lying around?

I just read about this on the Mego Museum boards. I think if we all throw in a couple of bucks we can split it up! What do you guys say?

A few toys for sale

I imagine this is what it looks like where the Toy Gods live...

Spock Stop 15: Columbia Heights, MN

It's time for a Spockcation Report from the Road! Spock's 15th stop is in Columbia Heights, Minnesota at the home of Ed of the Mego Museum! Ed and Spock's vacations overlapped a little so Spock had some down time to read through Ed's mail, remember Spock here on earth intercepting communications is frowned upon.

Once Ed returned though, Spock and him had a great time exploring in Minnesota so I'll turn it over to Ed and let the Spockcation begin!

"Honestly, who invites a Vulcan into their home and then goes on vacation? Ah well, at least I got to watch the snow melt from here.. And once they get back, I'll have free run of the pl-."

"Oh, dear."

"First that creature, and now this! CAN YOU HEAR ME? ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? What kind of house of horrors is this? I need something to settle my nerves..."

"On second thought, after Colorado, Maybe I'll hold off and just relax."

"This is better! At least I've got the guest room to myself! Wonder what else there is to do around here?"

"This is much tougher than it looks..."

"GAH! This is no better! I should get out and explore."

"And so here I am in lovely downtown Minneapolis, site of..."

"The brand-spanking new ballpark, Target Field! Let's check it out!"

"Hey- It's Kirby Puckett!"

"And Harmon Killebrew - whoa! Easy with that thing, big guy!"

"This place is SWEET!"

"Oh yeah, we're right next to the Target Center too, but the Timberwolves suck, so let's move on."

"One more thing I have to do before I go... it's me and one of my television contemporaries, Mary Tyler Moore!"

"Say 'so long,' Mary!"

Spock looks like he had a blast and he is amazingly well rested for someone who has been living out of a suitcase for a year. I guess a long vacation would do that. I wish I could just travel around and explore like Spock, I have a feeling I would eat and drink more than him and nobody would want to clean up after my messes. Oh well, until our next stop in Illinois (looks like we have two stops there)... Live long and prosper.

How cool would this cop show be?

I thought this when I was opening these bad boys up and checking them out. It seems like it has taken me forever to get my hands on these two figures, but in reality it's only been since 2007. I feel a little guilty this year because I took some of my Birthday winnings and spent it on myself instead of doing the responsible thing like pay a bill or something. Some of the things I did pick up was a few items on eBay, on the cheap of course. More on this later, oh and I guess I'm behind on updating my budget posts as well.

These two came from an auction that I won for less than four bucks, plus as a bonus it came with another Concept Snowtrooper. Not the new one, but the one from 2007 seen here. Also the seller shipped it late and threw in an open Phantom Menace figure for good measure, LOL, it's pretty bad when they start using Phantom Menace figures for packing.

How cool is Concept Vader? So cool he comes with two different heads! The only thing that could be considered a draw back is that Hasbro didn't use ball joints for the elbows. That's not enough to not make it one of my favorite Vaders! Plus he's sporting a pistol, I guess if Concept Stormtroopers can have lightsabers then Vader can have a blaster. Speaking of Concept Stormtroopers, I have never seen one of these when they were released in the wild either. Good thing I found the older, but much less decorated one when it was released as a Fan's Choice #4 figure in 2003.

Now, I have been wanting a Concept Chewbacca for a long time, like Concept Vader, I have never seen them in stores. I did spy one at a LCS for a reasonable price, but it sold before I decided to finally buy it. That's how it goes when you second guess a price in a comic shop. made out better in the long run though... hee hee.

Chewie has not one, but two blasters. A pistol he can holster...sweet, and a huge rifle he can club you with. I often wonder if Chewie would have been as lovable if he looked like this in the movie, I'm thinking not so much.

That's it for my Star Wars eBay scores, the rest were some Spocks to boost the ranks of the Spocklection, I promise I'll get to those down the road.

Gonk! Hecho en México!

Here are Gonk's photos from Cancun, Mexico, you had a teaser of some of these as we traveled. Gonk had a great time even though he didn't get to do everything he wanted, he's already talking about where he wants to go next, I think I created a monster. Enjoy!

The view from our room, we didn't spend much time in it, but it was nice to wake up to the beautiful sky and palm trees.

Gonk's first walk in Mexico and he's already making friends with the locals.

The beach behind the Ocean Royal Resort, we didn't stay here, but we had full use of the beach and the activities.

A look down the beach.

Gonk spent the day just sitting on the beach and watching the waves.

"Remember to turn so you don't get burned Gonk!"

"There you go."

Not sure if you can tell, but Gonk is upset at me for not taking him Scuba Diving, his Zip Lock was leaking.

Gonk on top of some "Aztec" beach art, it was made of foam, but he posed anyway.

A spot in the shade to enjoy the day at the beach on the Isla Mujeres.

Another shot of the dock on Isla Mujeres.

Gonk dancing on the boat on the way back from the Island.

Our last day, Gonk enjoys another sunrise from the balcony.

Home again, Gonk brought a new friend home with him for the Día de los Muertos collection.

Marvelous Mondays! The Almost Forgot Edition!

The only thing that sucks about vacation is that it has to end, talk about having your work waiting for you when you return. I was so busy playing catch up I almost forgot my Marvelous Monday Post.

Here's a quick post (and photo) of a recent find. By recent I mean yesterday, so recent I haven't had a chance to set him free from his plastic prison. Okay, so, I was just talking to a friend about when you are on vacation and away from toy stores it doesn't seem like a big deal, then you return and find yourself in a store and its like all the cool stuff came out while you were away.

Now, I actually had seen this one in a Toys R Us a few weeks ago and passed because someone had ripped open the package and removed his foot. What they were going to do with his foot is beyond me, apparently they needed it really bad. Maybe it had two wrong feet like my Green Arrow.

I'm not too familiar with the Extremis story arc, but that is cool because hasbro was thoughtful enough to include a little write up on the back of the package, long story short Tony Stark has little nano-bots in him now that link him to his armor making him virtually invincible. Like all superheroes I guess, the invincible part not the nano-bots. I like that these are starting to come with stands, sort of like the GI Joes.

Still it was cool to see a few of these hanging on the pegs of the Magic Grocery Store, and on the back there are a few others I need to find. I think in this series the Arch Angel and Thor Reborn are supposed to be shipping, two I have to find. Plus the Vintage Looking Cap and Bucky (with a rather un-vintage looking M-16) look like they could be cool.

Well, that's it for this Marvelous Monday, excelsior and all that! Tune back in later in the week for some more of Gonk's Travel Photos and a Spockcation Update!

Spockcation Year Two!

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of Spockcation. Wow! One year, I didn't think it would take more than a year.

While Spock is currently traveling from Minnesota to his first stop in Illinois (I have lost communication with him, but am confident that he is still okay) I thought it was about time for a Spockcation Travel Facts post.

Here's some Spockcation Travel facts till he reports in:

Spock has completed 15 stops since he started on April 14th of 2009. That's only five more since the last travel facts update.

Spock has visited 11 states and Canada.

Spock has actually made his way into Canada with two different hosts.

Spock has had multiple stops in the following states so far: Florida and California. He has a multiple stop coming up in Illinois.

Spock has logged an estimated 18,957.9 travel miles.

Spock's longest distance he has traveled is still estimated 3316 miles from Boca Raton, FL to Seattle, WA.

Spock's shortest distance he has traveled was estimated 11 miles in California.

Spock has been traveling for 1 year and 1 day, more precisely 366 days.

Spock has 18 more stops in his trip, he's almost half way through.

Spock's estimated return to his home state is November 2010... I hope, I would like to see him sooner if possible.

Spock should have took his communicator so he could call for transports to all his stops.

So, Spock is still out there be patient and remember if you are hosting him try to keep his time with you at one week. As Spock would say the needs of the many out way the needs of the few, or the one.

See you hopefully soon with more Spockcation, Live long and Prosper.

Gonk! Sandfest 2010, Day Two!

Well, we only went to one day I had to split it up because Gonk got a little happy shooting pictures. The event does actually last a few days, and though we didn't stay for the judging it was said that they blew up the losers sand castles. I actually would have liked to have seen that, just the safety issue alone seems worth it, plus how would you like to enter a competition and loose and then the judges say okay... BLAM!

Let's get onto the photos, Gonk and I saved the best for last!

Our hotel didn't have a great view of the beach, but Gonk loved the view. He was excited to see all his fellow "Droids" on the roof enjoying the sun.

Here's a picture of a Texas beach, gray sand and gray green water, I hear it turns to white sand and blue water the further you get down the coast though I have never seen it.

Didn't bring the equipment to build sandcastles, then build your own.

I have a buddy who works on these things, he would get a kick out of these...

Looks like one of Aquaman's troops, an armored sea horse.

Hey buddy watch the hands... of course maybe she digs it, she is smiling. Nice helmet, bet that starts to get hot around noon.

This is Gonk's and my favorite entry, I can't wait to see when they update the official site and see if this one won.

Here's a detail shot, actually my favorite part of this one.

A detail of the building block head, too bad LEGO's are not that curvy.

Another shot of Mr. Potato Head, that robot is not too shabby either.

This one is our second favorite, it is full of all sorts of win! A Surfboard, A Big Samoan and a Tiki! Some of these sculptors were from as far away as Italy, I didn't catch were this guy was from, but if he was from Hawaii I just want to say I'm sorry our beach is not as pretty.

Gonk! thought he would get in on the action, but we didn't have the nice sand they brought in for the competition, still a great effort little guy!

Gonk! being mighty proud of his castle, he's king of the world!

Time to check out, Gonk! had to leave a little note for the staff... He may not be an astromech, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn last night : )

One more stroll on the beach before we loaded up and headed on home!

That was a fun little trip. Gonk! hopes everyone enjoyed it and he has another trip planned real soon. So check back and see where Gonk! goes next.

Gonk! Gonk!
