The Manhunter from Mars!

Hands down one of the best capes on a figure or toy period! I mean if you are going to run around in a blue speedo you best have one killer cape! The weight on this thing and the way it fits, amazing! The toy isn't too bad either. To me, not knowing all too much about J'onn J'onzz, I think this is one of the best toys of the character.



Hasbro is responsible for this guy, and while not released as a DC Superhero he was released as a JLU figure exclusive through Kay Bee Toys, back when we still had them in the area. I was surprised to find this guy on the shelf, not so much the other exclusive Superman Blue (though I did go back years latter and get him off Ebay).

I have to tell you though, I wish they would have stepped up the capes on Superman and Batman like they did for the Martian Manhunter here, I just can't get over this cape!

The Great Mazinger!

Toy Joy strikes again! On one of our trips to Austin I picked up Mazinga, Mazinger, or whatever you prefer from my favorite toy stops Toy Joy! This trip I knew I was getting a windup robot from their awesome selection of windup tin men, I just didn't know which.



So I dug and dug through the stock on the shelf until I produced some likely candidates and lined them up for some final inspection. This seemed to amuse one of the shop keepers as he was stocking the section next to the windups. He asked if I was a fan of Windup Robots, which I responded with an enthusiastic "Hell yes!" and a smile. He said he was glad to hear, that he was a fan as well, that not too many people dig them around the shop.



I told him I was narrowing down today's purchase from the three I had lined up n the shelf to one, since I was also planing on picking up a few other odds and ends, and asked for his input as well. While I valued his opinion I decided to go with Mazinga here and left the others for another time. He got a laugh when I told him I would be back for the others, months later I did return and pick up one of the others, that's for another post.



Mazinga is from a family of Windups released from Marmit. They come in a little coffin style box with a photo of the toy on the front and the text in Japanese. The body is made of Tin with a print of the character design on it, the head is a roto molded plastic. Marmit produced several properties including among others Ultraman and Getter Robo. Oh and Toy Joy is the kind of shop that lets you look at the toy and try them out. They had several open robots for you to see and compare before purchasing!

Announcing a new little blog started by yours truly and Rob form the Aquaman Shrine!

We decided to combine forces and not only look for Justice League Unlimited figures that each other needs, but to blog about the fun times spent looking and the adventures that ensue.

DC: New Frontier - Superman

Dc Direct Superman from Darwyn Cooke's DC: New Frontier. One of my favorite versions of the character. Dc Direct really did a fine job capturing the style of the comic.



While I do have several Superman items in the collection, I am not as big of fan as some. Superman in some media comes off as too perfect to me, that said when the first Superman movie came out starring Christopher Reeve back in the day, I thought that was the best, and still is, representation of the character! Also I like Mr. Cooke's take on the character. To me Superman has always stood for what man should strive to achieve, Batman is what man has to be. It's that idea that I like about Superman.

FREAKAZOID!

Talk about flying in under the radar, Freaking FREAKAZOID!

So I'm sort of let down the other day because while on an expedition to dig up new Justice League toys I came up with zelch, nada, nothing... then as I made the usual rounds at the local Target, I check out the new releases and there was this one copy of FREAKAZOID! Season 1 starring back at me. Boo Yaa!

Cave Guy, Lobe, Fanboy, Dexter, Steph! Oh yeah and how could I forget Cosgrove! But my all time favorite of the series is Mo-Ron!

I will be watching these and maybe posting a short synopsis and review of the episodes! Freak Out!
